Abstract
Biotechnology and biomanufacturing are at the forefront of Life Sciences, offering significant potential to improve disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, as well as enhancing our understanding of biological processes. Gene therapies, personalised medicine, vaccine development, and regenerative medicine, supported by digitalisation and artificial intelligence, are opening doors to more effective, tailored, and sustainable healthcare solutions. Since 2014, Horizon Europe, the world's largest international research and innovation programme, and its predecessor, Horizon 2020, have funded nearly 1,900 health biotechnology projects with over €3.9 billion. These investments have driven significant advances in life sciences, particularly in stem cells, vaccines, gene therapies, nanomedicines, and antibody treatments
