Abstract

Antibiotic resistance is on the rise – new approaches in medicine are needed. A promising alternative: phage therapy. Phages are viruses that can specifically attack and destroy bacteria. This film by Thomas Häusler, commissioned by the Forum for Genetic Research, shows how phage therapy works, where it is already being used, and where its limitations lie.
