Abstract
Microbes may be small, but they create BIG problems when they develop resistance to antibiotics. For over a century, antibiotics have been the backbone of modern medicine—treating infections, enabling life-saving surgeries and protecting the most vulnerable. But now, the rise and spread of drug resistance is threatening to reverse all this. Drug-resistant infections are already one of the world's biggest killers, associated with nearly 5 million deaths a year. Without urgent action, this crisis will escalate, putting everyone, everywhere in danger.
